FARMERS' MARKET

Every Thursday, June - September from 10am - 2pm at Ferland Park

As a community created around agriculture, the Vanderhoof Farmers’ Market holds a place near and dear to our hearts. Residents and visitors alike can find fresh, locally grown produce, organic meat products, preserves, crafted goods and much more. Come and experience all that our area has to offer, meet the vendors and learn about what makes their products some of best B.C. has to offer.

Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter

As a true four-season community, Vanderhoof offers a lively calendar that unfolds in short bursts of activity throughout the year—summer brings festivals and markets, fall features harvest fairs and art shows, winter shines with holiday markets and sporting events, and spring welcomes garden shows and community gatherings—ensuring there’s always something happening in Vanderhoof.

SPRING

Spring bursts with the Hooterville Hoot Classic Car Show, the great sturgeon release, the Wild Goose Chase running races, the spring Pitch In-Clean Up, and the Easter Egg Hunt.

APRIL

BC Rodeo

A BC rodeo sanctioned event — activities to entertain all ages. Join us on the last weekend of April.

MAY

Wild Goose Chase

Over 300 runners from the northern interior participate annually in this fun ‘chase the wild goose’ running event. Choose either a 3 km or 8 km run, jog, or walk through the streets of Vanderhoof.

May Stoney Creek Elders Fishing Derby

Open to children and adults alike, this weekend-long fishing derby is fun for everyone. Come angle for trout and other fish species to win great prizes.

SUMMER

The District of Vanderhoof’s summer events feature Canada Day festivities and its companion event the Mary John Walk, Indigenous Peoples Day, and the Sturgeon Release. Music lovers can enjoy a concert in the park, and families can gather for movies in the park. Rivers Day highlights environmental stewardship, while the Strawberry Tea at the museum offers delicious treats. The season concludes with the Community Garden Harvest Supper. Additionally, various community groups organize events like Pride Day, adding to the rich tapestry of local celebrations throughout the summer.

JUNE

Hooterville Hoot

Classic cars, hot rods, custom builds and motorcycles roll into Vanderhoof for this family-friendly Show & Shine, where owners proudly display their polished rides at Riverside Park. Stroll through rows of stunning vehicles, meet the enthusiasts behind them, and enjoy a relaxed Sunday outing where even the local fire truck and ambulance join in on the fun.

JULY

Canada Day

Canada Day in Vanderhoof begins with the Mary John Walk, where participants travel 14 km by bus to Saik’uz First Nation and then walk back to the Heritage site for a pancake breakfast served by the Nechako Valley Historical Society. The day features performances by the Saik’uz Drummers, and afternoon activities at Riverside Park, including vendors, games, and live music. Finally, the festivities conclude with a community BBQ hosted by the District of Vanderhoof, offering free food and drinks.

Concert in the Park

Local talent performs for an afternoon and evening filled with great entertainment. Bring your lawn chair and a picnic for this great family event.

AUGUST

Vanderhoof International Airshow

Join the festivities at the Vanderhoof Municipal Airport that include spectacular flying demos, BBQ, and rockin’ hangar party in the evening. For further details, please contact the Visitor Centre or follow the Vanderhoof Airshow Facebook page.

Nechako Valley Exhibition

The third weekend in August is always busy at the Nechako Valley Exhibition Grounds. All are welcome to join in the fun at this true agricultural fair. LEARN MORE

Strawberry Tea

The Vanderhoof Strawberry Tea event, held at the local museum site each August, is a cherished tradition that combines community spirit with a touch of local history. Set amidst the museum’s historic exhibits, this delightful afternoon features tea served alongside a tempting array of sandwiches, croissants, and an assortment of strawberry-themed desserts. Attendees can indulge in freshly baked scones, creamy strawberry shortcake, and other seasonal treats while exploring the museum’s displays. This heartwarming event offers a unique blend of cultural enrichment and festive celebration, making it a highlight of the summer season.

FALL

Fall is coloured by Rivers Day, the Nechako Valley Exhibition Fall Fair, and the Movie In The Park shows every Friday when the days get shorter.

OCTOBER

Great Pumpkin Walk

Join residents of Vanderhoof and area for a spooky ‘trick or treat’ stroll through Riverside Campground during the Great Pumpkin Walk, which is followed by an exhilarating fireworks show.

WINTER

Minor hockey games, speed skating meets and figure skating exhibitions take the stage on the ice all winter long while the Nechako Nordics Ski Club gets its share of excitement with snowmobile, biathlon and cross country skiing events.

DECEMBER

Parade of Lights

In celebration of the holiday season and Christmas, the Vanderhoof Parade of Lights is one of the largest of its kind in BC, with floats of all shapes and sizes shining bright down the streets of Vanderhoof! The parade is followed by Midnight Madness downtown.
