Aquatic Centre

The Vanderhoof Aquatic Centre opened in 2019. This exciting facility features a 6-lane 25m lap pool, climbing wall, 30-person hot tub, sauna, and 1500sqft leisure pool filled with water features and a lazy river. The facility also includes small viewing areas in the lobby and on the pool deck, ramp access to all three pools, and conveniently located men’s, women’s, and universal change rooms. Vanderhoof Pump Track

The Vanderhoof, BC Pump Track is a high-energy community feature that invites riders of all ages to get moving. Designed for bikes, scooters, skateboards, and balance bikes, the track uses rolling terrain and bermed corners to let riders generate speed through body movement rather than pedalling. It’s a welcoming space for beginners learning the basics and experienced riders looking to sharpen their skills, all while fostering an active, social atmosphere. Whether it’s kids cruising after school or families stopping in during the summer, the pump track has quickly become a hub for outdoor fun and healthy recreation in Vanderhoof.

Mountain biking and Cycling / Biking

Mountain Biking BC calls Northern B.C. “one of the most sought-after mountain bike trips,” and Vanderhoof sits right at the centre of it. Just up the street from the Visitor Centre is the well-equipped Rip’N The North downhill bike park, featuring drops, jumps, skill zones, and flow trails.

Vanderhoof is also an ideal hub, with top riding spots like Boer Mountain, Mount Pope, Sinkut Mountain, and the Pidherny Rec Site all within an hour’s drive. Located on Highway 16, it’s equally appealing for road cyclists, offering scenic, easygoing plateau riding and a welcome stop between Prince George and Burns Lake. Need support? Vanderhoof Skatepark

The Vanderhoof, BC Skate Park is a vibrant gathering place for local youth and visitors alike, offering a modern space to skate, scooter, and BMX. Featuring a mix of bowls, rails, ledges, and street-style elements, the park caters to a wide range of skill levels—from first-time riders to seasoned skaters. More than just a place to ride, it’s a social hub where creativity, confidence, and community come together, making it an important part of Vanderhoof’s active outdoor lifestyle.

Vanderhoof Arena

The Vanderhoof Arena is open from September to March (dates vary) and consists of a regulation-size ice rink, heated viewing area, change rooms, concession, and mezzanine. Skates and helmets are provided for free during public skating times. The arena is home to the Nechako Valley Figure Skating Club, Vanderhoof Clippers Speed Skating Club, Vanderhoof Bears Minor Hockey Club and many other adult hockey recreation leagues. The dry floor is available for rental during the summer.

Nechako Valley Exhibition Grounds

The Exhibition Grounds provides an affordable, multi-purpose community centre for horse-back riding, horse boarding, clinics and shows, Vanderhoof and District 4-H, major sanctioned rodeo events, public camping, archery tournaments, wildfire evacuation facilities for people and livestock, youth summer camps, public recreational vehicle storage, company picnics, family reunions, weddings, and more.

Golfing

Vanderhoof is home to Omineca Golf Course, offering 18 holes with undulating grass greens. The front nine transects the woods and crosses gullies, while the back nine is flat, open and has water features on three fairways. Open from April to October as weather permits. Relax in the lounge of the log club house that overlooks the back nine. The course is available for private tournaments.

Disc Golf

The Vanderhoof, BC Disc Golf Course is a free-to-play nine-hole course set in a natural, mostly flat setting with a mix of open and wooded holes. Opened in 2023, it’s suitable for beginners and experienced players alike, with pathways and restrooms, making it a popular spot for outdoor recreation in Vanderhoof.

Vanderhoof Community Centre

No matter your age or ability, there are numerous ways to get involved and stay active within our community. The Vanderhoof Community Centre opened in March of 2017, and is home to the YMCA, Nechako Community Arts Council, and all things recreation! There are five community spaces available for rent and countless community, recreational, and educational classes happening at the VCC year-round. The YMCA of Northern BC is contracted by the District of Vanderhoof to provide recreational programs in the community; visit their website to learn more about their services!
